'Peace On Earth' Begins With Love Within

A two-fold feeling tends to permeate the holiday season which often gets masked or suppressed in the shopping hoopla. They can be exemplified in question form. Do I have someone in my life to love? Do I have someone in my life who loves me? Perhaps another question is, “are they the same person?”

Maybe these are not your questions, but they are mine. However, the answers to these questions that apply to you are no less important than the ones that apply to me. Love is the most important subject to every human being. Some might argue that “what’s right (or wrong)” or “truth (or lies),” are as important, if not more so than love, but only love encompasses all these things, and more. It encompasses and permeates both the relative and the absolute, the expressed, and the implicit. Love is the only “thing” that does this, because “no thing” exists without it, although it can appear to be absent, and all “things” come from it.

Therefore, love influences the perceived quality of every life being lived, the joy experienced (or not), the peace we feel inside (or not). How can we have Peace on Earth, if it’s not first active and present within one’s own heart? If you don’t feel at peace, safe, and in balance inside, your world definitely won’t be. And if your world isn’t at peace, then what’s happening anywhere else is meaningless.

The key to inner peace is love, as is the key to health, and to wealth. Love is the “alpha and the omega,” the first answer, as well as the last, as applied to and directed at one’s self.

When you love yourself, peace is possible, as is joy. Filling your own “cup” with love to overflowing, then makes it available to love others, for then, like the candle flame that can light an infinite number of others and yet remain whole itself, you have love to give and not be depleted, irrespective of whether the others give it back to you in the form you prefer.

We are quick to withhold love, and slow to give it. Yet, when we withhold love from another, we are depleted. Cut off the spigot of love, and you drain yourself. It’s so easy to do. Simply be fearful or resentful. Think that you are “right” and someone else is “wrong,” or did you wrong. Think that you are “worthy” or someone else is not. These are all ways to cut off love’s flow, and we are masters at it. We have the pain, depression, and anxiety to prove it.

Love is an elixir that generates its own alchemy in the human body, that allows great healing to occur, not only of the body itself, but in the mind, soul, and the life itself. Only love can improve a “bad” situation. It fosters a state of balance within one’s being, and within interactions, where step out of the hurricane, and become the eyes,  places of peace in the maelstrom.

Now, more than ever, it’s important to be places of peace in the maelstrom. The key is love. Allowing yourself to feel it because you know it always exists, and allowing it to go wherever it is needed, as your Gift… and as you.

With all the toys and games that are bought… with all the trinkets and “bling bling” that are given, there is only One True Gift, and that is you when you are with love.
