The time when “the will to survive” was prime, has given way to the time when “the will so succeed” prevails. We’ve always wanted to succeed, but often was bogged down in figuring out how to survive. Then, even when we did figure out how to survive, all we had accomplished was to succeed at surviving, which is no fun. However, succeeding at living was what we wanted to do all along.
An analogy to that is spending time and energy “fighting” to raise the minimum wage, when it will never be enough, for it is not intended to be. Minimum wages are actually starting wages. If we saw them as such, and were not in survival mindset, moving up the wage scale would likely happen faster, as we make ourself more valuable to our employer.
Today, there are many who are still trying to figure out how to survive, and yet, succeeding is the the real goal. So I suggest that instead of spending more time and energy trying to survive, consider going directly to succeeding; not trying to succeed, but succeeding.
Appearing to be a success is one of the most desirable or intriguing things about a person. The path to success is open to everyone, without exception. However, it will not be started if we’re in a survival state of mind. But here’s the good news. If you’ve got the heart (and everyone has heart within them), you can step off the survival bus today; right in this moment.
How? You ask.
It begins with the choice so succeed at what your heart actually calls you to do, and the commitment to stand behind your decision, and belief in yourself. This doesn’t mean that others will believe in you, but then, it’s not their life, is it?
With the choice, commitment, and belief in your eventual success, every step you take thereafter will be seen and experienced in an entirely different context, and will have different meaning. You will have an agenda, of the heart, to which you will align your mind and body. This choice will start a cascade of other choices and results, which will beget new choices and possibilities. Like flowers in springtime, small successes will begin to blossom all around you. In time, they will likewise grow in size.
Does succeeding mean you will have a big house, lots of money, and fancy clothes? Not necessarily. While there’s nothing wrong with money and such things, there are many who have it and remain entrenched in survival mode, slaves to their possessions. They think that their possessions define who they are, just as some people think that their lack of possessions define them. This is not success.
Success is being in the sweet spot of your humanity, at peace, and loving, to others and to yourself. You show compassion to others whose path you cross, and the capacity to forgive your tresspassers, for you will have been where they are, and forgiven yourself. You know the hell that they are needlessly creating for themselves, as you once did to yourself.
You now see yourself as an equal, not only to other human spirits, from the humblest to the greatest, but also to the challenges of life and relationship. You have the courage to be true… to yourself and others, and the willingness to listen, and not fear change.
In the process, you have found your gift and now you express it. And in that process, you have begun receiving from life in the spirit of your giving to it.
In truth, that’s what’s been happening all along. We are always succeeding. We are always a success. The difference is that we don’t always wish to own up to what we’ve wished for (or haven’t had the nerve to ask for) from God, and received. Furthermore, we have tended to not know that the power to change our reality rests within us, and is ever ready to be exercised, when we are. So let’s do it!
Here’s to your success.
